If the Bears could take back the final 5 minutes of the first half, they would’ve in a heartbeat. Two goals scored by Kent Denver on 16 yard free hits were the difference in a 2-0 state championship loss Thursday at All City Stadium in Denver.

Olivia Baglieri scored the first goal with 2:38 remaining in the first half, and a penalty as the clock expired led to another goal right before halftime.

Aside from the 5 minute lapse, Palmer Ridge had a solid defensive presence all night long, but they just couldn’t muster up many threats offensively against the Sun Devils.

The Bears have made 3 state championship game appearances in the past 5 years, but have fallen in the title game all three times, twice to Colorado Academy, in 2012 and 2014, and on Thursday to Kent Denver who won their 10th state title.

Both senior Shannon Snediker and coach Paul Lewis gave their thoughts on the disappointing loss, but successful season. Listen to their comments above.

The Bears will lose 8 seniors from this year’s team, but they still look solidly prepared for the future to take on the likes of Colorado Academy and Kent Denver once again in hopes of that first state title.
