Palmer Ridge High School’s upper academic building was vandalized over the weekend. No suspects have been identified; however, Assistant Principal Mr. Anthony Karr stated that “an investigation is underway.” Security camera footage is currently being reviewed.

The graffiti was first identified early Monday morning, and it is believed that the school was vandalized over the weekend. The vandalized area is highly visible to most incoming traffic to the school.

The reaction from the students was mostly characterized by surprise and disappointment. Some students were frustrated by the vandalism, such as Patrick Tooley (12).

“I would have thought this school’s students could distinguish themselves on the basis of maturity. Acts of vandalism, such as the school graffiti scene, display very irresponsible characteristics that our very school teaches students to avoid,” said Tooley.

At this point in the investigation it is unclear whether or not the act is related to The Bear Truth’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton. There had been a significant response from the student body about the endorsement since it was originally published on October 12th.  It is also not yet known whether or not the building was vandalized by a student, or possibly another member of the community.

School officials attempted to remove the graffiti midway through the school day, but it is still partially visible.

A full retelling of the editorial and its aftermath is available here.
