Let it snow

Can there be a white Christmas?

Colorado is well into the season of winter. Usually the ground would have a powdery or sticky snow layer so the kids can go outside, have snow ball fights or make snowmen. There’s just one small problem- we haven’t seen much of our desired snow. For the first time on December 7th, snow blanketed the ground. I just thought to myself, “Gee I hope it snows for Christmas,” but it doesn’t seem as though that will be the case this year (sigh).

I have very fond memories of when I was younger, going outside with my brother and sister and just having fun in the snow. We used to have half an acre of land which got piles of snow. My mom and dad would like it when we were out there because it provided them with peace and quiet, but we only cared about what fun activities we could come up with. I might be in the minority when I say this, but I love making snow angels. I think it’s mostly due to the name. People also may have very different things to say about the snow, but all I have to say is winter is my favorite season.

Sure the winter time may look gray, gloomy and depressing, but all I look at is the beautiful sunsets and frost windows. The windows look like some famous artist, like Leonardo Da Vinci, painted a breathtaking pattern on it and sprinkled it with glitter or crystallized sugar. While walking around after a fresh layer of snow has been meticulously laid down, I like to look at the trees and bushes, all because of their beauty. Again, I know it sounds weird but the next time it snows, take a minute to look around and you’ll be able to see what I’m talking about.

Being without snow on Christmas is like people without their cellphones- I wouldn’t be able to imagine it.

Just remember do the snow dance, flush ice down the toilet, and put a spoon under your pillow!

The sky was beautiful and it had snowed the night before. Surprisingly the snow had not been blown or melted away yet.
