The PR football team has finally won the 3A State Championship for the first time since the school has opened up. Winning this impressive title was a long time coming for everyone on the team, even past players. “. . . It has been a goal of a lot of people in this program, players that have graduated, have left the program better than they found it, but they weren’t able to have that success. I was very proud of the young men on the field that executed and got us to that point . . .” said Coach Pulford. The football team celebrated right after the game smiling and hugging each other with pure joy on all of the players faces. “It did not hit me until a little bit after the game that we actually won state, but just pure happiness, probably one of my happiest moments,” said Ty Evans (11). In the stands, the atmosphere was much different than on the field. The Erie and PR stands were filled with students and parents watching the state game.  The atmosphere on the stand was not as intense as on the field, though. “I think the atmosphere was very intense out on the field. I think on our sideline guys were very focused and they were ready for their opportunity to get into that game . . .” Coach Pulford said. The PR football team won 46-21, an unprecedented feeling for the entire football community. The feeling was crazy yet amazing “It was a crazy feeling, just thinking about all the work that are teams put together. All the coaching staff and their sacrifices and the community coming together it were just an amazing moment,” said Evans. Ty Evans (11) got the Gatorade Player award after the state game while Coach Pulford was named Coach of the Year for 1A-3A football.
