Swim team earns big win on senior night against cross-town rival

By Alexis Olmstead, Print Editor-in-Chief

As the Lewis Palmer Girls’ Swim and Dive team prepared to face Cheyenne Mountain, their biggest rival, on Wednesday, January 24th, excitement and nervousness were widespread throughout the entire team. Muriel Evans (12) said, “Cheyenne Mountain is a pretty intense meet. It usually comes down to the last couple of events, which is pretty stressful, but it’s always a fun meet.”

After a grueling two and half hours of swimming and diving, our district team pulled out a win against Cheyenne Mountain with the final score totaling 96.5-88.5.

It was especially sentimental for the five Palmer Ridge seniors on the team (Muriel Evans, Meagan Pattillo, Kayla McClelland, Mary Means, and Faith McAllister) because it was the last home meet, meaning the season was practically over. Afterwards, the team reflected on the season with their annual banquet at Monument Hill Country Club, reminiscing on the ups and downs of the past three months.
