After the Cross Country season, the runners started training for Track and Field. The Track season looks promising since most of the short and long distance runners are putting in countless hours training after school.

Runner Annie Busath (10) said, “I think that we will do a lot better than we did last year . . . We have definitely been putting in a lot more work in the off season than we have in the past. I think that will really help us out in the long run.”

Even the most prepared runners bump into obstacles along the way, including injuries, sub-par meets, and sickness. Alex Murphy (10) commented on this fact saying, “I think that we will do pretty good. We will have are struggles for sure, but if we all come together we will definitely have a good season . . . The hardest event for the team will probably be our relays. We got some really fast guys, but it is going to be a lot about coordination.”

For the best season, the team will need to peak before the state meet, an important aspect for all the athletes. “We want to have a better showing at state than we did last year,” said Annie Busath, reaffirming the team’s commitment to earning another state title.

Zachary Mason (10) is running with the pack during the first lap of the 800 meter race.
